Over 50 Young Baseball Players at First Mix and Match

Over 50 young baseball players attended the season’s first BBF Mix and Match training event at Farnham Park on Sunday.

Players aged between six and 16 from Kent Buccaneers, Greenwich Giants, Northants Centurions, Sheffield Cubs, LYBL, Brighton and Cambridge were put through their paces by a group of coaches led by Will Lintern, Director of Pitching & Catching at Smarter Performance and members of the GB U12 coaching staff.

“It was a fantastic day. By the end of the day players coaches and parents alike were buzzing. It is always an honour and a privilege to work with representatives from so many different clubs and hopefully they have something they can take back to their own environments,” said Will Lintern.

As well as a series of training drills covering hitting, throwing, pitching and fielding, players ended the day with a closely fought game.

“The BBF is committed to help youth baseball in Britain grow and will continue to work with partners like Smarter Performance to offer high quality sessions for our mix and match members. I would also like to thank our GB U12s coaches for volunteering their time to make this event extra special for the kids,” said Lee Manning, the BBF Development Official.

The next Mix and Match Training Event will be held on Saturday 11th May from 10.00am at Cambridge Baseball Club, Coldham's Common, Abbey Leisure Complex, Whitehill Road, Cambridge, CB5 8NT.
