Arrows 7 v 0 Vålarenga Baseball - (European Federation Cup)

The Essex Arrows have continued to march at the Federations Cup in Stockholm, taking down Vålarenga Baseball from Norway 7-0.

This game was all about pitching, with Ty Powell throwing a 105-pitch complete game shut out, allowing just 6 runners to reach base all game and striking out 12.

The Arrows scattered 9 hits and 3 walks to score their 7 runs, with 8 of 9 Arrows hitters reaching base at least once.

The Arrows now advance to Saturday’s final where they take on Stockholm Monarchs after they defeated Zurich Barracudas to avoid the WBSC’s TQB tiebreak formulae.

General Manager Brad Neal: “It has been 10-years since we last played in Europe and our performance so far has been beyond even what Eduardo (manager) and I dreamed of. We now have the chance to become the first British Team to win the Fed Cup and the boys are fired up to bring this home for the British Game.”

Mets 12 v 3 Espoo Expos - (European Federation Cup Qualifier)

With the a place in the final secured the London Mets entered the final game of pool play with confidence. Resting key players, manager Derrick Cook turned to one of his younger arms in Kaden Horwood to eat innings and hopefully leave the Mets undefeated going into the final.

Taking the opportunity in his stride Kaden turned in a strong performance striking out 7 over 4 innings only allowing two runs, neither of which were earned. The Mets offence delivered throughout with three members of the AAA Metros delivering 2 hits each on the day.

As the lead began to build, long term club veteran and GB womens team manager Pietro Sollecito would stand on the mound to see out the game. Twirling 3 strong innings Pietro would allow only 1 run as the score would finish at 12-3.

Tomorrow the Mets take on Kaunas for a repeat of their matchup on day 1 at 2pm CET.
