Historic win for GB U15s
GB’s Under 15 team came back to form with a mercy rule win over Hungary today after two disappointing losses against higher ranked teams to start the tournament.
The 21-5 victory in Trieste sets them up for the placing games which start tomorrow.
Good hitting set the foundations for the victory as Charles Battista went four for four at the plate, Hugo Esperon three for four and Ted Conway three for three with two triples and six RBIs.
Conway also started on the mound, throwing two innings for just two runs. He was relieved by Zebb Marshall and Sebastian Taylor who also pitched well to ensure a dominant win.
After the game, Head Coach Ian Griebenow said:
“This was the outstanding performance from all the boys that we were looking for. They took all their chances both at the plate and in the field.”
“We knew we were better than the results on the first two days would suggest and we are fired up for the games still to come.”
